2026 Texas Education Agency Accountability Ratings
Liberty Hill ISD (LHISD) maintained its overall state accountability rating of 85 this year, according to preliminary ratings released today by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
This rating comes following a year of significant challenges, including approximately $8 million in budget reductions and the loss of positions and support structures. Despite those challenges, LHISD students and staff continued to sustain progress.
Three campuses earned an A rating:
Legacy Ranch High School - 91
Rancho Sienna Elementary - 91
Bar W Elementary - 91
“Sustaining our overall rating during a year of significant challenges speaks to the dedication of our staff and parents working together for our students,” said Superintendent Travis Motal. “We are proud of sustaining our progress, but our focus remains on ensuring every student is growing so they can be empowered to be the best version of themselves.”
Using Data to Drive Improvement
TEA accountability ratings consider measures including student achievement and academic growth. While STAAR is an important measure, LHISD also uses other standardized assessments and district common assessments to monitor student progress throughout the year.
Liberty Hill Elementary received a B rating last year following significant academic growth. This year, the campus received a 74. District analysis shows that overall student achievement remained relatively consistent, while the school progress measure reflected less growth than the previous year.
The state accountability results also identified specific student groups at Liberty Hill Elementary and Liberty Hill Middle School for additional targeted support and improvement based on performance targets not being met on the same indicator for three consecutive years. At Liberty Hill Elementary, identified areas for targeted support include Emergent Bilingual students in mathematics, Special Education students, and economically disadvantaged students. At Liberty Hill Middle School, White students in mathematics were identified for targeted support.
In response, the district and campus are conducting a root-cause analysis and implementing targeted supports, including:
Strengthening Tier 1 instruction through increased focus on rigor, engagement, curriculum alignment and progress monitoring.
At LHE, adding an academic interventionist and partnering with Literacy First to increase Tier 2 interventions and tutoring.
Adding a dual-language and EB instructional coach at the elementary level to deliver prioritized campus support while also leading targeted coaching across additional campuses
Implementation and teacher training with a new state-approved and research-based math curriculum/resources
Expanding teacher collaboration, professional learning and data analysis.
Strengthening collaboration between Special Education and General Education staff.
Reinstating targeted program specialists and other instructional support.
“Our goal every year is that each student makes at least a year’s worth of growth,” said Assistant Superintendent Heather Stoner. “We are using this data to help identify where we can improve our systems and resources to ensure our teachers are empowered to have the greatest positive impact on student learning.”
LHISD's vision is to build champions in academics, character and community. State accountability is one area of focus to ensure LHISD students are well rounded and LHISD will continue using multiple data points to monitor growth and adjust instruction and support throughout the school year.
